I installed Ubuntu and then after restart, when I entered in the boot menu, only Windows 7 option is shown. No Ubuntu option is shown.
I started Ubuntu with try Ubuntu option and saw the folders in the partition in which ubuntu is installed. The ubuntu directories are there.
What do I need to do to get the option of running ubuntu on boot?

Please give more details about your system. Are you using RAID? Most common is when using RAID people use the desktop cd instead of the alternate cd and grub2 doesn't always install successfully on RAID from the desktop cd.

You can also run the boot info script (follow the link in my signature) and post the results as explained there. It will have more details.
