View Full Version : [ubuntu] how to install from .tar.gz?

Hi
I need to install auto07p(a software for continuation & bifurcation) and some software it needs to them.i downloaded them from package.ubunto.com.
these are .tar.gz. i extract them by "tar zxf source_name.tar.gz".for some of them, ./configure works and for others,it doesnt work. after configuratin,"make" and "make install" dont work.what should i do? please help me.i use Ubuntu 11.04.

In the untarred folder there is normally an INSTALL file that tells you how to install them, also maybe post the names of the files you want to open. There may also other dependencies required by this files as well.

there is no INSTALL or README to tell me how.there is INSTALL-sh not INSTALL.sh and others don't tell me anything i do.
