I've been reading posts on these forums, and I know that my system isn't technically certified, but I was wondering if it could be dangerous to install Ubuntu on my laptop...especially because it's 64-bit.

The only danger I see is overwriting your data. If you understand installing any OS, you should be fine. Personally I would never call installing any OS dangerous. :)

First try downloading the image and burning a cd with it. Boot with the cd and select Try Ubuntu. That will run it in live mode from the cd. You can see how it goes.

I've installed and used Ubuntu for years, but it looks like Lenovo has a weird BIOS set up and I need a bunch of workarounds for GRUB and stuff, I just don't want to do any permanent damage :). Thanks for the info. I will give it a shot!

If you are aware of some issues with that model (or the brand in general) of course you need to investigate further.
It would also help if you post your concerns here in more detail (if you know details) so maybe someone can help.
