I've tried to make 11.10 have the same interface as the one I have used for the past several years. not a fan of Unity and if I wanted an Apple interface I would have bought a apple.

is there any way in 11.10 to move the tool bar to the bottom of the screen? just want the same nice configurable interface I've always had with Linux.

If you want the same interface then use Gnome classic..just click on the small gearwheel like icon at the login screen and change it.

wait...gnome classic is exactly the same as in 10.10 or not? So you want the bar that has the "Applications" tab and the others at the bottom?

thats the puppy!. the notification bar is bad enough in 10.10 with it blocking that upper right corner all the time. just want the tool and task bars down on the bottom instead of the top.

as far as i know you currently cannot move the top bar...Gnome 3 has yet to get the plugins since its new to do that...so i guess you will have to wait, switch Desktop Environments temporarily or just deal with it...

In the near future it will get alot more customizable, i am sure of it.

time for KDE then. I have tried mint 32/64/ Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10. and puppy this week and wasn't happy with any of the interfaces.

maybe wanting to be able to configure Ubuntu the way I like is asking to much (frustrated? very).

thanks for the help anyway Basher.
