View Full Version : [ubuntu] Unity starts when I run KDE

After using Gnome for years I decided to install KDE to see how it compares. Now when I log in using KDE, Unity also starts, which totally bogs down everything. This is strange because I don't normally use Unity as a desktop environment.

How do I prevent Unity from starting when I run KDE? It was listed in Startup Applications but I removed it, yet it still starts.

Thanks

Kent

While I was able to prevent Unity from starting there were still several Gnome processes running. I ended up uninstalling KDE. It's noticeably slower and not nearly as useful as it used to be.
