When I tried to preview some screensavers, the message about glx missing was presented instead. So I ran

$ glxinfo

name of display: :0.0
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfigWhat do I need to install to fix this?

If you are using 10.10 like your user information says , I think some of the GL screen savers may require a 3D graphics driver .
