installation freezes after network configuration

So i have a Dell Poweredge 1800 im trying to install Ubuntu server 11.10 on but every time the instillation gets to the par were it configures the network to DHCP it freezes and just shows the blank purple screen. i have tried installing it without configuring the network and that works but then i can't update. i have check the install CD's integrity and it checks out. i am completely new to Linux and Ubuntu so im clueless on how to fix this problem.

Same here, I found that a CTRL C brought it back to the installation menu and when I configured it manually it continued to the rest of the installation.
