Hello Johnny3

The Unity 2d team will be very pleased that you can't tell them apart!

Unity is the 'full fat' interface, like Aero was for Vista. You get swish graphical effects. Try opening a few windows and then pressing Super-W where Super is the Windows key. You should see a zooming out and all your windows scaled down side by side.

Unity 2d is a lower resource interface, which I happen to prefer anyway. Less snazzy but the Alt-Tab keyboard short cuts work in a more familiar way. Have a look at my Sensible Guide (link in signature).

If you are running 11.10, your computer will 'fall back' to Unity 2d if the graphics card is not quite strong enough for Unity 3d.

If your graphics processor is up to it, you can choose which session to use from the log in session cog wheel.

Merry Christmas, from warmish Birmingham UK

Thanks I never notice that. I just use the min and max buttons.
Merry Christmas and God Bless Johnny3 65++
PS hope they don't speed that much time on it. I can get the same effect with a few drinks.
