Hey guys, generally, text in my Xubuntu environment appears a bit awkward. I think this could be due to lacking filtering. Is this the "standard" look in xfce, or can I change some settings to make fonts look smoother? That would be awesome, thanks for you help.

Go to the Settings window → Appearance → Fonts and turn on Anti-aliasing. You can play around with the hinting and subpixel font rendering until you get what looks best for you.
Cheers!

Hello and welcome to the forums.
You can adjust font settings from Settings -> Settings Manager -> Appearance -> Fonts tab.
What settings do you currently have enabled?
