Ok,
I'm going to get back to 10.04.
What preparations I need to make to save all the stuff I had before.
I have /home as separate partition.

i would suggest you tar up /home & /etc then do a fresh install but don't reformat /home as you may be able to re-use most of the config files.

may i ask why you are reverting back to 10.04?
if it is the unity effect then consider xubuntu-desktop as that is what i did & now preffer xfce over gnome 2

Back up any Important data in /home elsewhere. Then clean install 10.4 after formatting both the partitions. If you try to use /home from 11.10 in 10.4 you will have configuration issues later. To avoid this do a clean install.

If you are moving back to 10.04 because of Unity you can try the advice in the above post and install XFCE. You can do this from Synaptic.

I tried, I tried even enlightement, which is great and mate which is gnome 2 fork.
It's just I'm dissapointed and feel like I lost someone I love. Gnome 3 which is not working well on my laptop is not much different than unity. Classic looks like broken gnome 2.
I had issues setting up dual monitor in KDE, LXDE, E17 and XFCE.
Nowhere I could get wobbly effect working.
print screen doesn't work.
I just don't like the atmosfere around it, it's restricted.

Btw, I already reinstalled, formatting only root partition
