I cant find a music cd from VLC in 11.10

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 + classic gnome GUI, and VLC cannot find disks, even though they show up as "devices" in the Places drop down menu,

CDs do not show up in /media mount point,

This appears to be a bug, but if anyone has a solution, I am all ears.

How does Ubuntu 11.10 deal with CDs? Does it use the raw /dev file, un-mounted?

I can only speak of Xubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 11.10 with Unity. Here, audio cd's are automatically mounted and you can access them without further actions.
