Can't get out of search and launch

hi, i had installed ubuntu 11.10 on a hp mini 110, then i decided that i wanted to give kde a try so installed it through the terminal, but when i log in with that interface im at the search and launch screen and it does not show anything else but that, i've been trying to figure this out but nothing, any help? thanks

I think you are in KDE netbook interface. Press alt+F2 & type


systemsettings

Then go to workspace behavior > workspace, then select workspace type Desktop & click apply for the change

you may need to enable plasma desktop in Startup & Shutdown module of systemsettings (personal settings) to start the the plasma desktop automatically.
