Hi,
I am having some problems getting the sound to work after installing the latest version of Kubuntu on my Acer Aspire One. When performing the sound test or attempting to play an MP3, I receive no error message yet sound does not come out.

I have already:

run the troubleshooter on the sound problem
downloaded the Realtek audio driver for Linux. However, I get the following error message when I attempt to follow the directions in the readme file: "Could not open the archive /tmp/kde-theodoXXXX/arkIVcUrL/realtek-linux-audiopack-4.06a.tar-1, libarchive cannot handle it."

What do you suggest? I am new to linux, and I appreciate help!
