I was thinking about trying it. Anyone still using it?

I was thinking about trying it. The design almost looks better than 11.10? Is that true or no? I like how their was like a color background behind the icons.

Unity under 11.10 is better than Unity in 11.04 in almost every conceivable way.

You can have the color behind the icons by either using Unity 2D or choosing "backlight always on" in CCSM in Unity 3D.

11.04 was the first release with Unity, and a lot of people hated it because it didn't seem like it was ready. You'd be crazy to use it over 11.10.

Here's the thing about 11.04, if you want to use Unity, 11.04 isn't a good way to be introduced to it. I have 11.04 on my work computer, but use the old Gnome2 option. Unity just seemed horribly frustrating on 11.04, and I didn't have the patience or time (a few months ago) to fuss with it.

But now I also have 11.10 installed, and am using it more and more as I learn my way around in Unity. It has helped to have a safe place to go back to (which, in my view, is the only real value of Natty right now) when I muck things up in 11.10.

Last week I installed 12.04 on an extra hard drive so I can see how it works. I only boot 12.04 on weekends, so I'm free to learn about it without being afraid of mucking it up (which I've done several times).

Unity is still not my favorite thing in the world, but it's actually fun to watch it mature (somewhat). Right now Gnome 3 is more fun and looks very pretty. I think it's important to learn both of them.

When the dust settles, I'm thinking we'll have some great choices available.

I really hate it when people choose which version of an OS, or which OS entirely, to use, based on how it looks; even more so, because of how some icons look.

I haven't chosen to use Ubuntu 11.04 because of the how the icons look, I was simply wondering if people are still using 11.04. Get over yourself.

Same, I am using 11.10 currently and right now, and I am actually liking Unity quite a bit. When you tried Ubuntu 12.04 was there anything different you noticed that wasn't in 11.10? Just curious because if there is a few changes already I might give 12.04 a go. Thanks! Appreciate your time.

Ok, I will go right to Ubuntu 11.10 then, thanks for the suggestion! Take care!

Yeah, I'm still using it. I have Ubuntu 10.04 and some other distros on my main pc, and I have 11.04 on my laptop.

I'm crazy!

Actually, if I was installing today, I'd probably go with 11.10. But 11.04 is fine here, so I haven't bothered to upgrade. I'll wait for 12.04.

Actually, 11.10 made my 'Google desktop search' not working anymore...and no proper replacement in sight.
Furthermore, the 'gnome-panel' is not working anymore, which means that no more windows titles are displayed.

So I will stick with 11.04 until 12.04 arrives.

If the whole mess will continue, I will switch to KDE.

11.04 worked well for me and I used Unity only for the six months it was installed . Gnome 2 is maybe why people continue to use 11.04 . I have not used a gnome classic environment since 10.10 , so I don't know if classic Ubuntu in 11.04 was like 10.10 or not . I do like the 11.10 version of Unity much better than 11.04 .
