Help me choose a dual (android/ubuntu) bootable tablet

I've finally decided to give up my 2007-era laptop and buy one of those shiny new tablet computers that are all the rage.

There are a few things that are critical for me:
- Ability to run Android and Ubuntu! Either dual-boot or Android from within Ubuntu. I won't pay money for anything where I can't have complete root.
- 1GB RAM or more
- Ports, ports, ports: USB port, SD port, headphone port
- Wifi and bluetooth
- Real 5 hours battery runtime
- Bright screen and durable, finger friendly glass (gorillaglass?)
- Well-built, durable and reliable

There are a few other things that are on my wishlist:
- Upgradeable RAM - 2 years from now, when 8GB of RAM costs $50, I'd like to upgrade.
- Full-size USB port rather than mini/micro USB
- Charges from USB - I dont want to carry a charger thats the same size as the tablet!
- Full size SD card slot - So that I can use the cards that I already have

I realize that I'm asking a lot, but I'm willing to pay. I prefer to stay under $500, but $1000 is my hard limit.

Any suggestions?

honestly right now i would purchase a separate tablet (or android phone). A good out of the box dual boot solution is probably not available yet.

also you can get tired fast of the virtual keyboard on a bigger screen and is harder to get work done on a tablet.

that's why a real keyboard is important.

I've heard that the eeepad transformer can be made to run ubuntu as well, but I don't know much about how fast it is.

I too started looking for a Linux/Tablet solution recently. I found this last night:

This video just sold me on one. After watching that I researched the tablet itself and you can relpace the mSATA 32G it comes with. I am gonna buy one of these if it works to my satisfaction:
Intel 310 Series 80GB mSATA mSATA (mini PCIe form factor)

from Newegg. I read the Feedback for this drive and some of those users are indeed sticking it in the Acer Iconia w500. The only difference between the w100 and w500 is the w500 comes with Windows 7 Pro and the price ofcourse.


Anyways, as soon as I get the courage to go blow a chunk of my Xmas budget on this tablet, I'm off to get it!
