When Unity first came on the scene I could see that it was gearing up for more then just a computer interface. I could see phone, pads and TV's. I believe Mark Shuttleworth is show us the direction Ubuntu and Unity are heading.
What are your thoughts on this subject.

Personally I find Gnome 3 a more appealing interface for a media center/TV or a tablet. I can't picture either interface on a mobile phone... that would require an entirely new DE IMO.

Out of all the DEs I would say that KDE would be the best for a media center front end, as you can configure that thing for almost anything. even the current netbook interface works pretty good for that. The only downside is that it is a bit heavy for a media center front end.

Another thing to watch for in the near future is this:

One of the points of interest in the Ubuntu TV plan is the role of Ubuntu One, Canonical’s cloud storage service. Ubuntu One already includes the ability to buy and store music online and is almost certain to allow users to purchase movies and other content through Ubuntu One.

I am one that uses Ubuntu One, but I just use it for files I need in different locations on different computer, but if I had a Ubuntu/Unity TV I would use it for moves also.
