I met with a guy the other day that works for dell who said he created these forums back in the day and then sold it off later. The story I got was the community was mad when he first created this site. Any truth to this? I think his name is scott....but I can double check on that. Any thoughts? Pretty neat.

Sounds like BS.

Besides, this is a support forum - please post this stuff in a more appropriate section, like the Forum Community Discussions (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=175) in the future, thanks.

Being a staff member and being active are two different things. Since the guy found the forum I think it is natural that he would be on the councli whether he is active on not. I never remember seeing him posting since joining this forum last June. But he has very recent and relatively frequent activities on the forum I linked to.

I have been wonderng why he decided to create a new forum.

Why does anyone do anything? Does it really matter what someone does in their personal time?

Did I say it does? What are you talking about? Matters or no, it is kind of curious that he abandoned this forum and created his own again.

*sigh*

Just because you haven't seen him post, doesn't mean that he has "abandoned" this forum.

There is a lot more to helping maintain forums then just "posting".. :D

Isn't this just dissolving into cyber stalking?

Show yourself 'Geek and put us all out of our misery!

That is 100% accurate I met with Jason a few weeks back. I started the Ubuntu Forums in 2004 and transferred ownership to canonical in 2007. I work for Dell :)

I'm not as active on the forums as I used to be for various reasons. But check out the history here..

BTW, the ubuntugeek.com website is not me ..
