This question is based on an older (closed) question regarding a similar goal for Natty:

I had previously followed the instructions posted there by mc4man, to create an entry in the old power button menu, and that worked like a charm.
However, I tried those instructions in Oneiric and it seems to have no effect.
My dock/launcher is already pretty full, I just want to add arbitrary entries to the cog menu (not necessarily just xkill).
