My question pretty much covers it all.
I'm on Ubuntu 11.10, and I usually use Unity 2d.

If you want to know why I'm asking this question... I change my desktop background image frequently, and sometimes I have difficulty reading the names of the apps/files. It would be great if I could change the desktop's font color, and I wonder if anyone in the Ubuntu Forums community can help me out.

Thank you so much! I'll try that out. When I searched, the closest thing I found was how to set the font face/size:

gsettings set org.gnome.nautilus.desktop font 'Ubuntu 10'
