While having my first boot on 11.10(not upgrade boot, but actual install) I get stuck at the boot screen where it checks my battery. I did not have any issues with Ubuntu 11.04. So, is there anything you could do to help me out here? I have an eMachines e627 laptop. By the way, it's an amd64 install.

Well it looks like it is compatible.

Try using Ubuntu 10.10 instead, and use the 32-bit version this time, just to be on the safe side for now..

Here is a nice walk-through guide:

Try creating a live USB Installation Flash Drive of Live Ubuntu 10.10 and see if it will boot into the live USB of Ubuntu normally. Go to Ubuntu.com and the download page and select option #2, and hopefully you have a spare usb flash drive to use for this installation.

I was able to boot after first installing Ubuntu, so I installed my wireless card and graphics drivers, I proceeded to restart. Now when I boot, I get stuck at the screen where it checks battery life.

What do I do?

Threads merged.

@SpazticWonder, please do not start more than one thread on the same subject. This dilutes community effort.

I have the same issue after upgrading to 11.10. Boot hangs after "Checking Battery State." Running using VirtualBox on a MacBook Pro. I've enclosed a screen cap of what shows when I remove 'quiet splash' from the Grub menu entry.

Any help would be appreciated.
