View Full Version : [ubuntu] "Disk read error" after installing ubuntu

I wanted to keep 3 OS's. (i wanted to test ubuntu, and i have to keep XP, as my printer doesnt support win7)

so i installed them in the following order: first XP, then win7, then ubuntu.
when i had finished installing win 7, the two OS's were booting fine, but after i installed ubuntu 11.10, ubuntu booted fine, but on chainloading windows says "Disk read error. press ctrl+alt+del....".

for the windows, i had created a 60 mb partition(the first partition), just to keep the boot files. and i installed grub in the MBR. does that have to do anything?

this is my boot_info_script output:

Boot Info Script 0.60 from 17 May 2011

The best idea in this case may be to back up and wipe your hard disk and reinstall everything.
