I cloned 80 Dell 630 laptops today but I had a couple of quirks with some. I made a custom version of Ubuntu 11.04, used Remastersys to make the ISO then used UNetbootin to make a bootable USB (five actually).

A few of the laptops, after the install, had a few lines across the screen like something failed but, after a little bit, continues to boot properly. This looks like a bad splash image.

The other quirk happened on 4 laptops. After the install, it re-boots into the grub screen. I can't do anything with it after that. Any thoughts on why it deviates here?

Since all the laptops are the same model, I'm not sure what to look for.

Posting the laptop specs would be a good start, especially the graphics card.

Do they all have the same OS on them?

I'm wiping out the existing OS (if it has one) and installing Ubuntu 11.04 via USB. Out of 100 laptops, 4 did this. All are Dell D630's, I'm not sure what internal differences they may have had. I'm just checking to see if anyone had an idea of what this may have been caused by, hardware or software?

I don't know why this happened on the few D630's but I tried installing with a DVD and all is well.
