I recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my office computer (DELL optiplex 360) using the Ubuntu's support WUBI (downloaded from website) running windows 7.
Ubuntu was installed properly and was working for 2-3 days. Then, I downloaded synaptic manager to install some files. I let synaptics run and install/upgrade files and any other upgrades. When I restarted the computer I am still prompted to choose windows or ubuntu from the loader, but when I choose Ubuntu I get directed to the GNU grub command prompt (minimal bash-like line editing...) Windows 7 still works fine.
I have already ran chksdk /r on the volume that Ubuntu is installed on and that did not fix the problem.
What's next?
Since it is my office computer, I don't want to risk the integrity of my Windows 7 install.
