hello,

i have ubuntu studio 11.10... it comes only with xfce.. for several reasons i prefer the gnome.. so i have installed the gnome-shell... the gnome-shell is working so far...

i want to turn of cpu frequency scaling.. i have followed an instruction... which first changed runtime lvl of the service... the instruction now says to right click the panel and add an applet, cpu frequency monitor...

the problem i cannot right click the panel.. the upper bar allready contains several standard applets.. i can right click those but i can not add new caplets

thanks for your help

It reads like the instruction may be for Gnome 2 . 11.10 uses Gnome 3 and the add to panel menu has been removed . Some of the new applications with indicators require the application be started in dash before the indicator will appear on the panel . Search for instructions specific to 11.10 because I remember reading about this problem and I think there is an application available .

Install GNOME

sudo apt-get install gnome
and select Gnome classic on Login page.
But there will be no unity there after.
