I don't want to sound negative or anything but the words linux and games are opposite words.
The 2011 linux games are like the 2000 windows ones (and consider that a praise thing since most don't even consider that)
There are a few games that try to get linux out of the ****, like:
-American Army
-Wolfenstein Enemy Teritory

But Windows games upgrades the "features"/engines day by day,Linux games are the same that were 2 years ago and you don't even want to know the bugs that you could get from this ported games

There are some quality games for Linux:
http://www.humblebundle.com/

Not to mention that there are plenty of free and open source games that are quite food for Linux. Sure, they are not CoD or WOW, but that doesn't mean there are not any good smaller budget games.

There is a lot of crap out there though, and it seems a lot of the open source Linux games have been in alpha for over 5 years. I think things like the Humble Indie Bundles are starting to change this though, as those bundles have some truly great games.

Aye, both the Humble Bundle and Desura have been an eye-opener for indie games when it comes to Linux.

I kinda like the "3 dollar indie market" though.
I can find a lot of things I'd rather buy than another 50/60 dollar shoot em up about heroic white people shooting brown people.

I don't really get into the big RPG stuff since I prefer tabletop gaming, and they don't really do turn based wargames anymore.

So I'd rather cough up a few bucks to some guys making Revenge of the Titans or whatever, than a giant studio producing halo game number 7

Have you seen Xonotic or Warsow? There are plenty of commercial games that look worse than those two. Let's also not forget Teeworlds, Super Maryo Chronicles, SuperTuxKart, or World of Padman.

I forgot all bout Desura... fantastic project. Hopefully things like these start bring more commercial games to Linux.

With life quiet again, I've set up a more vigorous schedule (as well as actually scheduling things out, courtesy of google calendar) and we got some updates

http://linuxgamereview.blogspot.com/

Namely Conquest: Divide and conquer, and World of goo, as well as the first entry in a little piece I want to do called "quick linux bits"

Hope you blogged about EA bringing origin, Valve porting source (and by extension the steam client) and Unity 4 going all native linux. (Be able to play Portal 2, TF2, Half-Life games, etc. on Linux natively eventually.)

I'll only discuss them when there's something concrete (in the case of Steam, Valve etc).

For today, just a quick shout out to the "playdeb" site. Hope to have another game review up tonight.

THat's pretty nuts. Wasn't there a similar debacle about WOW a while back?
