Aw, shoot. I thought you were going to ask for oldest *ever* post, not just from here. That would be harder to recall, but would probably have to be a submittal to rec.humor.funny back in 1897. Well, okay, maybe not *quite* that old, but definitely over 20 years ago, and *way* before smilies ever had these silly icons! :-)

I used another account name back a few years ago, so my earliest posts are from only a few days ago. :(

I have this strange cycle. I appear somewhere for a while, become very active and engaged, and then slowly fade away.

I'm hoping to change that this time, and although I say that every time, I feel more committed this time. Maybe it has to do with age?!

Those were the good old days, when you had to work to make Ubuntu compatible with your machine LOL. :-) I remember being in such a rush to get this to work. Getting it to work was half the joy of it for me back then. I loved my Ubuntu back then (especially since in Windows I got over 1000 infected files in a typical month <I downloaded a ton of WAREZ and other NOT SO legal things back then.>).

Lol, now the joke is on you. Back then there were no repos for skype, you had to manually download it and then install it. apt-get I got as I used it but it would not install skype for you :D

I can't get anywhere near my first post even doing that. It only gives me 10 pages of posts, which still only goes back to sometime in 2010. I even have the option set in my forum options to not limit the age of threads.

I haven't tried searching for threads instead of posts, though.

Edit: I checked my threads and it went back to 2006, which is still far from my first actual post.

oldest i could find was feb 2006 so i guess we're talking about ubuntu 5.10, regarding upgrading to an smp kernel for one of those newfangled dual core cpus. i still have the same computer now as i did then:

athlon x2 3800, nvidia 7800gt, 2gb ram :cool:

ive reinstalled ubuntu a few times since then though...
