what makes ubuntu unique????

who said it is ?

If it has only one thing that nothing else has then it is i suppose.

Therefore 11.10 default DE Shell is Unity and so Unity makes Ubuntu Unique.

Linux is Linux is Linux, everything else you can change pretty much to be how you like it ;-)

Ubuntu is a little bit taller than most distros, and has better hair.

+1; Ubuntu Forums has a unique culture, probably the best thing about the distro. :)

The original "big deal" that made Ubuntu unique, was Ubuntu's rapid development schedule vs. Debian's slow as hell cycle (we'll release it when we're/it's ready).

Ubuntu is a fork of the Debian project's codebase. The original aim of the Ubuntu team was to create an easy-to-use Linux desktop with new releases scheduled on a predictable six-month basis, resulting in a more frequently updated system.

Right. Unity makes Ubuntu unique. Nobody else in the world wants to use it. :)

Also a +1 to the forums. Ubuntu Forums are some of the most active forums for Linux help. That is definitely a plus.

Unity.

As far as the other Ubuntu derivatives (and pre Unity), I find they are just better put together and more user friendly.
