I used google to search old postings and the entire web. Apparently I'm not using the correct search words.

My question is: Does anyone here use a motherboard in a computer case with different operating systems (Windows 7 and Ubuntu) on different physical hard drives and switch between the two systems at start-up using an electrical switch to turn on the hard drive with the desired operating system?

Years ago I saw something like that, it seemed risky switching on/off drives (power spikes) when you can easily dual boot or just choose in BIOS.

Why would you want to do this?

I have seen this type of stuff, but it was more a hack than anything. I also wouldn't recommend since a dual boot is just so much easier on separate hard drives. Its much more complicated than it needs to.
