I have an old, and by old I mean 2007 Pentium D processor from an acer PC build and I want to make it into a necklace. And my question is, how would I go about doing this? Would i drill a hole straight through the heat sink or would it be easier to fasten it into something? Thank you!

Gah! I wouldn't just go drilling a hole through it if you are wanting to wear it. If you do that, the CPU will constantly be wanting to twist. You could always try soldering a little link at the top. Or, if you have the time and patience, you could make a little clamp that holds the CPU and attach the clamp to the necklace without damaging the CPU. Try to picture it from this picturehttp://www.3dnews.ru/documents/12639/cpu.jpg. Notice the sides of the CPU. It looks like there is a metal piece that wraps around and looks like it is clamping the CPU to itself. Then just solder the necklace to it. That way the CPU is unharmed :)

I have seen key fobs that are made from an image encased in clear plastic. I believe that the plastic is a kind of resin that is poured into a mould up to a certain level, then the picture is put on top and then more resin poured over the picture so that it is encased.

Encase the CPU in transparent resin and then the hole for the chain can be in the plastic. And the enclosure will not scratch the chest.

Regards.

Thank you for the idea, I will look into it.
