View Full Version : [gnome] TightVNC server = no gnome dashboard or launcher

Ever since I upgraded to 11.10 when I access my server via TightVNC Server I only get my wallpaper and desktop icons that I have created.

What is missing is the Gnome dash (when mouse hovers on the far left) or any sort of application launcher.

My xstartup file executes gnome-session.

I've tried many xstartup scenerios however none will launch the launcher or the dash.

Any help would really be appreciated. Let me know if there is any additional information needed.

Hans

PS, X11VNC launching :0 works just fine, but isn't a long term solution.

It would be helpful to know what command gets passed on when an account is selected using the new LightDM login manager in the Unity Greeter.

Does anyone know how to track this down?
