No button to Logout in Unity

The title says it all.. how do I add a button to logout/shutdown/restart in Unity?

All I see are the icons for my tray in the upper-right corner. when I try to right-click the top bar, I don't get a menu to, say, add a button.

Click the 'gear' all the way top, right. Log off, shut down, etc is all there. Reboot option is presented after clicking shut down.

EDIT: Sorry, you want to add a button..........missed that.

There's no gear icon and no way of adding it in..

But..

I fixed it but by disabling most of the Unity system and customizing it to resemble classic Gnome.

Well, that's what I intended in the first place so I guess this is of no help for someone else with this problem but still wants to keep Unity.
