KDE newbie netbook questions.

I have two questions:

1) I am using kde-plasma-netbook, is it possible to remove kde-plasma-desktop if I only want to use the netbook interface?

2) How do I prevent all windows from being maximized when they open?

I am using Kubuntu 11.10.
