It seems that whatever you install, chances are the icon will end up in "other applications" in the gnome shell dash. On the other hand, in Unity the icons are sorted properly.

A few weeks ago it was the other way around, in Unity most icons were uncatagorized whereas they were sorted properly in gnome-shell. May be they fixed it for Unity finally and screwed it up for gs in the process? Maybe they should have the same categories in gs and Unity?

This seems to only affect Ubuntu's build of gnome shell. In Fedora 16 the icons do go under the proper categories.

Just wonder if other experience this too.

This is on Ubuntu 11.10.
