Has anyone used Google Sites? I'm flirting with the idea of making a website but I have no desire at this point in time to spend money for anything. Figure it may be a good place to start. Otherwise would anyone recommend Google Sites or another domain for making one. I have zero experience building web sites and some basic programming skills. Thanks cheers.

Looks like Geocities. Unless you pay for the premier edition, you have to use a template, and your URL will look like https://sites.google.com/site/rob22941

http://cloudcontrol.com/ :- Awesome, small sites can start from free. PHP, very easy to use.

Also check out Red Hats latest offering, https://openshift.redhat.com/app/express :- Again, free to get started, easy to use and supports more than PHP.

I have used both and they are great. I moved from Google's AppEngine.

For a simple site, I see nothing wrong with that Google Sites. It's a clean and modern, if generic, aesthetic to the site.

Geocities lets you use either a template or html. Has that changed?

I'm giving Google Sites a go. Will look into Open Shift when I have a little more time. Thanks for the input.
