install fails with pixilated image

I booted from the install CD and ran the install. At the end of the install, it prompts to press any key.
After pressing a key, the next screen shows a distorted\pixilated image. Any idea or solutions?

Did you try it before you installed it?

what kind of box you got? How much ram, what kind of video card?
