I downloaded and successfully installed the iso image file onto my 4GB USB drive, ran my netbook to install it but I'm getting quite a few errors.

I clicked the "Install Ubuntu 10.0.4.3 LTS" on the desktop, followed the basic steps such as:
Language, the region and clock time, the keyboard layout, and then I get into some problems. I get onto the fourth step where it asks me to "Prepare disk space", I choice the "Erase and use entire disk" which warns me it will delete my other Windows XP distribution, I click "Forward", fill out my name, Username, Password and Computer name and then I click forward again, agree on the settings and click install.

I recieved a error which was:

"Input/output error during write on/dev/sda I click ignore, then I recieved another error:

"Error fsyncing/closing/dev/sda: input/ouput error:".

Even after I retry or ignore the:
"Creating ext4 filew system for / in partition #1 of SCl1 (0,0,0) (sda)..."

stays at 5% for hours then gives another error:

"The attempt to mount a file system with type ext4 in SCSl1 (0,0,0), partition #1 (sda) at / failed."

which takes me back to the partition menu.

What do I do?

Hi, and welcome to the forum, Jamie.m93.

Is this a solid state drive?

Are you able to boot windows at all?

Try to erase everything using www.killdisk.com before installing.
It will tell you if you have physical errors on the drive.
