Unity Settings Not Saved

I did a clean install of 11.10 recently, then used cssm to tweak some of the settings for Unity- smaller icons, transparent panel, autohide etc.

All was well for a while then at some stage the Unity settings would revert to defaults when I log out.

How can I fix this?

I remembered an hour after posting this that I earlier had a problem with launcher and top panel disappearing. I fixed this by copying .gconf and .gnome2 folders from the root home directory.

My latest problem had been caused by permission and ownership issues on the copied folders. :oops: Fixed that and all is OK
