I am using Ubuntu 11.10 Live CD and cannot install a debian package by double clicking on the package file. The installation button is always disabled. I can do this if I use 11.04 version of Live CD. The debian packages are on a usb flash drive.

I can install the package via Terminal but prefer and is easier to install by clicking.

Is this not possible anymore in version 11.10 Live CD ?

What is the package, and why install a package at all; it will be gone when you re-start.

However, I wonder if the package really will install in terminal, as you say is possible; have you already tried that?

Also is it a gnome 2 package, as Oneiric is now using gnome 3, so older debian packages may refuse to work at all if they are gnome 2.

On of the package is gptfdisk_0.8.1-1_i386.deb.

In 11.10 Live CD, I can install it via Terminal and works but cannot install by clicking the file
.
In 11.04 Live CD I can install it by clicking the file.
