I'm new to Ubuntu, so bear with me. The first problem is editing the boot order on a windows 7/ ubuntu 11.0X dual boot system. Being new to this OS, I don't know how to compile a program, so the GUI GRUB editors that I have found are beyond my use. I have spent 4 hours trying to find a way to change the boot order so my six year old can still use this computer. The second problem involves the basic interface. We recently upgraded our work computers to Ubuntu 11.0X and I was impressed with it's extremely functional navigation bar. What I downloaded last night would work great on my tablet, but it's close to worthless on my PC. Any help would greatly appreciated!

You can easily control boot order with startup-manager.

Its in the software center.
