OK,most of my cd's are old as dirt traditional instrumental hammer dulcimer/fiddle music...Anyway,that being said,I wanted to play one today.
Rhythmbox refused to play said CD..Why?
Who knows!
It also told me it could not find it in the Ubuntu archives.
And why would this stop it from playing a CD?
It next wanted me to write in name of cd,musician, etc.
Well I bloody well did not feel like it,so I closed RB and got something I knew would play the CD.
Amarok...So why would Ubuntu put in a player that won't play any CD you tell it to play?
How much sense does that make?

I have played and ripped cds with rhythmbox just fine, so I can't attest to it not being good for the job. I do prefer amarok though, but I also use KDE now.

Amarok isn't the default in ubuntu because it needs half the KDE desktop to work and doesn't have proper gnome integration. If you like amarok and any other kde apps then perhaps you should try KDE.

Interesting! I had no clue..And yeah,I sure do like the KDE apps.
Using plane old vanilla Gnome here on 10.10 and AR plays great.
Yuppers,I've used KDE in the past and will most likely plod back to it come spring if Xfce won't do all the evil stuff I have planned for it.
