Is it possible to install Ubuntu to a BD-RE instead of an HD? Since my blueray discs can be rewritten, such an install should in theory, also be able to be updated when new updates come out. Disc size is 20+GB, so space will not be an issue.

Thanks loads,

E.

I don't do blueray, but stick the ubuntu live cd in and see if it will give you the option to install to it.

Never updated a CD either, that could take an enormous amount of time if it works.

The BD-RE might be rewritable, but you usually do it with some kind of software, right? That step would be missing during the OS working and needing to write files. I doubt it can work but you can try it.
