hello.

i would like to know how to delete the side toolbar on ubuntu 11.10. i would like to have just a panel at the bottom of the screen where windows go when i minimize them

I don't think you can remove it fully, I believe it is hard coded.
If you right click on them you should be able to remove all of them, except the Dash Button, Rubbish Bin and the Workspace Switcher.
To add - go to the Dash circle at the top, select the icon of the application you want and drag it to the launcher panel.
Sorry, I can't be more help I'm a noobie and have only just installed 11.10.
