Hello,

A few months ago I began to have problems with my server installation and after battling several errors, I decided to just reinstall and use the latest version of Ubuntu Server.

When I first tried to install it using a CD I made a while ago, I got a kernel panic:

kernel panic not syncing vfs unable to mount root fs on unknown-block 8 1
I also could not run the disk check from the CD, so I took a guess and assumed that the CD was corrupted somehow. I decided to burn a new one.

I have a working CD containing the latest version of Ubuntu Server [11.10] which seems to work fine on all computers, except the one I want to install it on. This computer, upon booting to CD and selecting "Install Ubuntu Server", goes to a black screen and freezes or simply restarts the computer.

I had formated the HDD prior to the installation attempts, and created no partitions.
The computer seemed to run the installation CD fine if I switched the Hard Drive to a different one, however, it seems to result in the same problems now, even though no changes were made.

Thanks
