How many GB of ISO files is your distro collection? I'm sure my collection
is quite modest:

Contents: 74 items, totalling 47.3 GB (and counting... Excluding ISOs on DVDs,
CDs, USB-sticks).

I have deleted all the iso's too many times... but I have about 20 or so DVD's and CD's with one or other form of Linux or BSD on it... and that is in about two years...

lol I don't know where to start - I'm a real distro junkie - my ISO's folder is 16 items totalling 34.6GB, and that's since I'm started only keeping 1 version on my drive. On my testing disk, My VHD/VDI partition totals 62GB In Gparted! and this isn't including the two stacks of burned cd's/dvd's -about 10cm high each, Plus you know important cd's for recovery/editing - gparted live/partedmagic/clonezilla etc!

I've been using unix based systems for nearly two years.... and I have a problem!

Depends. They had the Win7 beta active for a couple months after the release of Win7 IIRC.

Ubupirate mentioned in a PM that his license expires in March... But now we're drifting off topic ;)

I PXE install whatever distro I use with TFTP and NFS.

On the PXE server the distro storage directory is 38GB. I currently have various versions of Mageia, Fedora, Scientific Linux, CentOS and openSUSE on there.

Linux - ~13.7 GB
BSD - ~2.6 GB

I deleted several ISOs a while back that I didn't think I would be interested in again.

Update:
Since yesterday I've downloaded a couple of win 8 preview ISO's
plus Debian Stable... The current stats are: 78 items, totalling 58.1 GB

...I'm not the only one with a problem ;)

Collecting is an illness one develops in consumer society. I keep a few image files around of the distros I work with on a regular basis, otherwise I download them as needed and delete ASAP.

Well, I agree that consumerism is a problem in the western society,
also think distrohopping and use of VirtualBox is quite normal when you're
new to Linux and wish to have a look around.

And besides, downloading ISO's and seeding them afterwards is a great
way of supporting the Linux community ;)

I have all Linux mint from mint 9(all spins) to 12,all ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.10(all versions),fedora 12 to 16 and many more.I guess it totals to almost 150 GB if I count each spin as different distro

the reason for such a huge collection is that somehow or someday I will need one distro or other for some purpose and I have only 512kbps(64 kBps I guess). So to download I will have to consume 4 hours internet and electricity.I have all of them burned to dvds.

so um, it's 52.1 GBs (158 items, oddly, though it includes some zipped images, vm images and tinyos style distros as well as some documentation files), although this isn't really a collection, just what's built up recently. it doesn't include the the burned distros i have on disks (stacked up, i'm sure most of them wont ever be used again) which probably at more than doubles that size.

i hadn't really realized that it had got so bad. time for a cleanout.

My distro folder is currently a little big:

Contents: 297 items, totalling 158.5 GB

I like to keep the older ones in case I get bored and want to mess around with them in a VM.

And yes, I'm a bit of a distro junky...

I used to have a HUGE distro collection, and after trying them all, I say use what works for you. That's the same with anything in life.

I've given over 250 copies of Ubuntu(11.10) via Bittorrent, it's just a small way to give back.

I like that most of you people are nice, it seems we disagree, and we have to get over it. It's nothing personal.

Well, I've finally been getting back into Linux. I was on a PC for over a year with a crappy video card that didn't lend itself nicely to Linux. So, having ditched the PC in favor of a 27" iMac, I'm back testing different Linux distros through Parallels Desktop 7.

After the holidays, I'll have a decent laptop to properly install a couple (or few) distros. I haven't even looked into dual-booting on the iMac yet.

In any event, at about 15 gigs, here's what I have in my distros folder:

openSUSE-12.1-DVD-x86_64.iso
linuxmint-DebianEdition-201109-gnome-dvd-64bit.iso
antiX-M8.5-686.iso
openSUSE-11.3-GNOME-i686.iso
SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.5.03-rel1_32.iso
ubuntu-10.04.1-desktop-i386.iso
ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso
ubuntu-11.10-dvd-amd64.iso
lubuntu-10.10.iso
Fedora-16-x86_64-DVD.iso
