View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can I reinstall Compiz Fusion from git?

I already installed Compiz Fusion on my laptop running Ubuntu 11.10, but I installed it in kind of a different way:

I opened up the Terminal and ran this command:
sudo apt-cache search compiz. After that I installed all the packages that appeared on my screen.
Summary: I installed the basic and extra plugins.

Then, after I rebooted my laptop, I could run Compiz Fusion with nothing crashing at all.
After looking up on Youtube, I couldn't help but noticing people having some extra plugins which I don't have, such as Atlantis, Snow, Tile and much more.

After some searching on Google, I found out that I could install everything that I wanted through Git (including the basic, extra and unsupported).

I know how to do it, but the problem is that Maxis (my Internet service provider) is hogging my bandwidth, so my download speed is 229 bytes per second (slow, isn't it?). I can't really download much, so if I leave everything as it is and just install and compile the Snow plugin through Git, will it appear on CCSM (which I installed using the default repository)?

In 11.10 compiz is installed by default because unity is a plugin for the
compiz window manager.
I have installed those experimental plugins before but am fairly sure
they will not work with the current version of compiz.
