In Terminal

sudo python -c "import urllib2; exec urllib2.urlopen('http://status.calibre-ebook.com/linux_installer').read(); main()"

Youll get the latest Calibre which worx with Sony T1, also has colæours and more functions, so far not includede with Ubuntu 11.10 repository as far as I know.

I've been using this, since creating a bug report back in Natty, I'm currently running it on Precise with no problems. The program also automagically notifies you when there is an update.
