On Ubuntu, in a LAN, I have installed: Apache2, PHP5, mySQL.
Default setting; I have been asked for root password.
Now I can browse the (empty) http://localhost. And use network and db tools, as phpmyadmin.
But I cannot populate var\www\:
- this directory is created by "root"
- I cannot either change the owner /rights via "sudo mc", because this seems not to be allowed, ...
- or transfer files via ftp (mozilla + fireftp)

Which settings are required?
Thank you.
