I am trying to use Gnome 3.0.

I have the bottom-panel-extension installed and turned on. But when I launch application they still show up in the top menu and do not show up on the bottom panel.

For example if I have FireFox and Chrome open I want two icons in this panel so I can select which one I want "front and center". Like Gnome 2.0.

How do I get the system to do this?

I think there is another extension which is doing that.

I don't know if you checked Andrei's blog to install the extensions.

I did not see anything in his blog about this. Did I miss it?

Ok in a part of the page there is a link:

OFFICIAL GNOME SHELL EXTENSIONS AVAILABLE IN THE WEBUPD8 GNOME 3 PPA FOR UBUNTU 11.10 (http://www.webupd8.org/2011/10/official-gnome-shell-extensions.html)

I found that if I install this one instead of the one in the repository it works fine.

Thanks!

Bottom panel is not enough. To get a window list on the bottom panel, you also need to install and enable "Window List" extension. See here (http://www.webupd8.org/2011/11/try-new-mint-gnome-shell-extensions.html).
