Hi

I did a full system backup on my laptop running on Maverick, onto an external hard drive. I then upgraded to Natty. I don't liek Unity but was happy with Ubuntu classic session desktop. The I upgraded to Oneiric. However, Gnome fallback "classic" session in Oneiric is crummy, and I still don't like either Unity or Gome 3 shell . So, I have to reinstall Natty to get the system I want (Gnome 2 "classic" desktop).

Will my Maverick backup restore satisfactorily in Natty, or do I need to reinstall Maverick, restore, and then upgrade to Natty? The reason I want as few steps as possible is that I live in a rural area with slow internet connection (it takes 3 hours to download one new release!).

I could just stick with reinstalling and restoring Maverick, but I like the upgraded Ubuntu One interface in Natty.

Thanks
WT
