What do you think of all this mainly 4chan spawned conflicts.

I'm pretty sure anonymous (the mainly script kiddie group) in
part probably spawed from 4chan, along with various other
things...some good most bad in my opinion.

In case you haven't heard of the Ddos
http://techcrunch.com/2010/11/14/tumblr-4chan-war/

I think this Ddos'ing is getting out of control.

Is this common with un-moderated groups?

It is great in that it is bringing awareness for the need of
computer security but they seem to be acting like children with
the "my group is better than your group" attitude without any
supporting reason.

The availability of open source software has largely contributed
to the growth of script kiddies, I doubt that they would have the
money to spend on professional software tools which the open
source tools mirror.

Is anonymous access (<- read TOR etc...) to the internet a good
thing, seems to encourage a lot of crimes...But then again
privacy violations can incorrectly lead to peoples lives
being ruined with bad publicity

Does the good outweigh the bad...does the bad outweigh the good.

Just seems like the internet sometimes brings out the worst of society :/

I don't think that tumblr has anything to do at all with the DDoS. The last time that /b/tards and tumblrs got into conflict tumblr just flooded /b/ with some stupid meme I don't see them doing anything different.

The suspects (according to what I saw at 4chan) are lulzec and Kimmo.

I can see Kimmo doing it or /b/tards DDoS'ing themselves.

Today it seems to be lulzsec, nevertheless Still the conflict continues.

Lulzsec seems to dislike the group "anonymous" because it lets essentially anybody take part. It is an indirect attack against another group (anonymous).

Anyone could have made that paste posing as LulzSec simply "for the lulz." It is not credible evidence to indicate that LulzSec was in any way responsible for the DDoS attacks that began on 13 November 2011.

4chan is a hive of scum and villainy. Unfortunately, killing it with fire is probably the worst thing you could do; you'd only drive it underground.

Reminds me of the whole "I'm Team Edward" thing, only with 12-year-old boys rather than girls.

Yes there is flaws, but I think you missed my point. There is continual reporting on conflict between [these] groups over time, which strengthens the point that the conflict is not over.

I'm not entirely sure it was Lulzsec, but it seems reasonable at this point considering people like to brag about what they have accomplished (especially script kiddies and crackers).

In short, Differing groups on the internet have taken to a cyber-arms race.

LOL HE SO MAD EKS DEEE

In all seriousness, it's not that bad. Maybe you only visited the scummy regions of 4chan.

And yeah.. I would prefer if it goes underground. Too many ubuntu, unity and gnome shell trolls there, very little actual technical discussion.

While I lurk /g/ I ignore all the Linux related posts, is not whort my time to get mad at all the insane amount of Ubuntu related trolling.

What I really miss is /co/.

And the keyboard threads.
